"My Opinion and Essay About “Designer Baby” Documentary Film"
Based on the documentary film which I had seen, the title is Designer Baby I want to give some opinion especially I feel so worry about Designer Baby’s program. Nowadays, many of scientists work hard to developing science about genetic. So, maybe in the future human can be made or be ordered by the design of us, we called it Designer Baby. But to make a super human is still impossible. Designer Baby is made by their parent’s ordered. There is a special machine which can identify and different chromosome. So, with that machine we can choosy the gender of baby by the parent’s ordered. Many of parents want to have a perfect baby and with this technology they can make it comes true. And the key of this problem is DNA. There is an experiment about DNA, jellyfish’s DNA was input to mouse, after that DNA of jellyfish crossbar with mouse’s DNA, so the body of that mouse was shiny in the dark, same with jellyfish.
There are four kind of Human Genome ( the code of gene ) T, A, G, and C. In our body there are 3 billion of chain codes. These code are researched by scientist, we called it Human Genome Project. This research had investigated about the entire things which happen in human body. For example is how human’s face shape is made. But it is still impossible to design our face by gen. Gen determines our behaviors. All of our behaviors are determined by gen. Like our feeling, angry, happy, intelligent, etc. Nowadays was found of gene, it is called Prozac gene. It can influence our heart atmosphere. This kind of gene is very important for human. Everyone has it. Human Genome Project had uncovered that we could know about gene which containing in our body. There is also gene that contain with disease. Renee Abshire, the baby who has a genetic disease, was died in 3 years old. She was paralyzed and she could not do activities as other child. This problem was happened because there is a genetic disease that descends from her parent’s gen. After Renee Abshire was died, their parent came to Human Genome Project’s office to helped. So, Human Genome Project researched the parent’s gen. To helping the parents, they do PGD step ( Pre-implementation Genetic Diagnose ). After that Brittany Abshire is the first baby who was born by PGD system. PGD system was helping baby free from scare disease and help parents to get healthy baby. This system is not twisting human’s gene with other but just throw away the bad gene from parent’s gene.
One day maybe parents can choosy good gene from the bottle which sells in supermarket, and that gene can be added to human’s embryo. It is just maybe, because this experiment can not be conception to human. It is very dangerous as the experiment to pig. There was a human’s gene input to pig, actually the pig was be paralyzed. It was failed.
So, in my opinion, make a design baby is very danger, we can against God’s work although the science was developing until now. I don’t agree if Design Baby program is illegal. It will make social problem, because just rich people who can do this program. Finally, there are many of disease in poor people society.
